The measurement of the ICRU quantities, the individual dose equivalent
penetrating, H(p)(d) and superficial, H(p)(d) should be performed at
well specified depths. This requirement leads to the use of thin layer
detectors. As is known from the literature, the filter/detector confi
guration becomes simple if LiF based thermoluminescent detectors are u
sed. Long-term stable, fully annealable at 400-degrees-C and LiF-based
thin layer TLDs, manufactured by ENDOS GmbH appear suitable for modem
radiation protection dosimetry. The filter/thin layer detector config
uration within the dosemeter badge has been optimised with respect to
the ICRU requirements. Experimental data are reported on energy and an
gular response to photons for a few carefully selected filter combinat
ions. A dosemeter badge enabling routine H(s)(0.07) and H(p)(10) measu
rements is presented.
