J. Filipovic et al., SIMILARITY SOLUTION FOR LAMINAR-FILM BOILING OVER A MOVING ISOTHERMALSURFACE, International journal of heat and mass transfer, 36(12), 1993, pp. 2957-2963
Forced film boiling arises when a liquid flows over a highly superheat
ed surface or when the surface moves through a liquid which is station
ary or is itself in motion. As a result of the vapor layer separating
the surface and the liquid, there is a significant reduction in the dr
ag force and heat transfer. In this study, a similarity solution of th
e boundary layer equations is obtained, and for a wide range of subcoo
ling parameters and surface velocities, related numerical results are
shown to be in excellent agreement with predictions based on an integr
al method.
