R. Srinivasan et al., FINE-NEEDLE ASPIRATION CYTOLOGY OF CHONDROID SYRINGOMA AND SYRINGOCYSTADENOMA PAPILLIFERUM - A REPORT OF 2 CASES, Acta cytologica, 37(4), 1993, pp. 535-538
Fine needle aspiration cytology of one case each of chondroid syringom
a and syringocystadenoma papilliferum with histopathologic confirmatio
n are reported. The aspirate of chondroid syringoma was characterized
by the presence of two distinct components, a mesenchymal element with
a chondroid appearance and an epithelial component. The chondroid ele
ment predominated in the smears. The aspirate from syringocystadenoma
papilliferum showed papillalike clusters and dyshesive, monomorphic ep
ithelial cells in a background of inflammatory cells. The clinical dia
gnosis and differential cytodiagnoses are discussed.
