Abstract
Availability of Methylene Blue as a photosensitizer in photodynamic th erapy was investigated, and it was found that the HeLa cells incorpora ted with Methylene Blue was strongly damaged by the irradiation with l aser light. Methylene Blue was effective for the irradiation of longer wavelength, which has the large tissue penetration depth. The possibl e reaction mechanism of the cell damage via photo-produced singlet oxy gen is discussed.
