Chromatofocusing was applied to the isolation of ovine beta-Lactoglobu
lin (beta-Lg) genetic variants. Ovine beta-Lg A and B, which are known
to differ only by a single amino-acid substitution, were separated. M
oreover, one component differing from A variant in isoelectric point a
nd relative molecular mass has been isolated in samples containing ovi
ne beta-Lg A. Although elution of beta-Lgs occurred far from their ''n
ormal'' isoelectric points, chromatofocusing is a powerful technique e
ffective for both analytical and preparative scale.
