Abstract
Relationships are obtained from which it follows that, when optical su rfaces are tested by means of a proof glass, it is difficult to detect a small aspherization of the surfaces, which can exert an appreciable effect on image quality. Recommendations are given for eliminating th e uncertainty in evaluating the quality of finished surfaces.
