Sj. George et Mj. Boscoe, INHALED NITRIC-OXIDE FOR RIGHT-VENTRICULAR DYSFUNCTION FOLLOWING CARDIAC TRANSPLANTATION, British journal of clinical practice, 51(1), 1997, pp. 53-55
A 55-year-old man developed postoperative hypotension following orthot
opic cardiac transplantation, unresponsive to support with inotropes a
nd counterpulsation. Acute right ventricular failure was confirmed by
transoesophageal echocardiography, and the introduction of inhaled nit
ric oxide resulted in immediate improvement. A beneficial effect persi
sted for 11 days, with hospital discharge two months postoperatively.
