R. Venkatasubramanian et al., NEW VISIBLE EMISSION-SPECTRA OF GABR, GACL AND INCL - PROSPECTS OF NEW LASER TRANSITIONS, Chemical physics letters, 210(4-6), 1993, pp. 367-372
Broad emission spectra have been observed for the first time in the vi
sible region at 4600, 5000 and 5750 angstrom and are assigned to the d
iatomic molecules GaBr, GaCl and InCl, respectively. No structure is s
een on the low-frequency side, while on the high-frequency side, some
undulatory fluctuation bands are observed. The electronic transition i
s identified as a transition from an upper bound singlet or a triplet
electronic state to the lower C 1PI state which is predissociated. The
se transitions hold the potential to be developed into an efficient ex
cimer laser medium, similar to the laser action obtained in the rare g
as halides.
