Abstract
Thermal polymerization of styrene in the presence of 2,4-diphenyl-4-me thyl-1-pentene (alpha-MSD) gave a low molecular weight polymer having a terminal double bond and a cumyl moiety without lowering the polymer ization rate. A chain transfer mechanism through addition-fragmentatio n reaction is presented.
