Abstract
Interlaboratory tests were organized by the Berliner Senatsverwaltung fur Stadtentwicklung und Umweltschutz in autumn 1991 for external qual ity control in the field of particulate matter analysis. In parallel w ith the interlaboratory test for the determination of metals in partic ulate matter described previously the determination of polycyclic arom atic hydrocarbons was also done. The results obtained in a preliminary and compulsary test were not at all satisfying evidencing the problem s associated with analysis and insufficient competence of laboratories .
