ONE REMARK ON POLYNOMIALS IN 2 VARIABLES

In this paper, we study some topological properties of rational polyno mial maps f : C-2 --> C. One can extend f to a map phi : X --> P-1 whe re X is a smooth algebraic compactification of C-2. The behaviour of o mega on the curve D := X \ C-2 contains all the information on the top ology of phi at infinity. We study the relationship between the so-cal led horizontal componentes of D, i.e., irreducible components D of D s uch that phi(l)D is surjective.
