Abstract
The synthesis of mixed arylene-vinylene oligomers with alkyl or alkoxy substituents situated on the two terminal aromatic units is described . Although the oligomers do not display the expected solubility in org anic solvents, the success of the synthetic strategic in providing a w ide range of materials designed for the construction of oligomer struc ture - electronic property relationships, is demonstrated.
