Abstract
Hazards of soil pollution by xenobiotic substances have focused on the usefulness of developing tools to assess toxicity of soils. Our exper iment displays that an insect pest, Ceratitis capitata Wied. has poten tial use for detecting toxic residues in soil, without any extraction step. The study of the burying behaviour of larvae allowed the detecti on of 1 ppm of lindane.
