ISOLATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF PORINS FROM A PARTIALLY ROUGH STRAIN OF SALMONELLA-WELTEVREDEN

Porins (4.67 mg) were isolated from a partially rough strain of S. wel tevreden (wet weight 30.60 g), which was found complexed with polysacc haride (3.43 mg). The porins were identified on the basis of their che mical contentS, SDS PAGE profile, its dissociation following heat and trypsin treatments UV spectrum and molecular weight (38.5 kDa). The fo rmation of precipirin band with the antiporins of E. coli K 12 indicat ed that the porins were antigenic, which corroborated their identity a s porins.
