A sample of 46 females and their partners were used to investigate if
males were aware of their partner's premenstrual experiences. Hotellin
g's T2 revealed that males' perceptions of their partner's premenstrua
l experiences did not differ from their partner's reports for the numb
er and the extent of affective and behavioural premenstrual changes. H
owever, their perceptions of their partner's somatic premenstrual expe
riences differed significantly from the female's experience for the nu
mber and the extent of changes labelled Water Retention.
