Abstract
Serratia liquefaciens secretes a broad spectrum of hydrolytic enzymes to the surrounding medium and possesses the ability to differentiate i nto specialized swarmer cells capable of rapid surface motility. Contr ol of exoenzyme production and swarming motility is governed by simila r regulatory components, including a quorum-sensing mechanism and the flagellar master operon flhDC.
