Abstract
A 42-year-old Japanese woman with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) d eveloped Parkinsonian-like movements. Steroid pulse therapy was most e ffective and additional anti-Parkinsonian drugs were not required. Alt hough psychosis, seizures and meningitis are common central nervous sy stem (CNS) manifestations in SLE patients, Parkinsonian-like symptoms are extremely rare. The putative genesis and treatment of CNS lupus ar e discussed.
