Longitudinal analyses of data from 64 pairs of former spouses indicate
that the quality of their postdivorce relationship had a significant
impact on fathers' involvement with their children. The strength of th
e influence declined over time, however, as the patterns of interactio
n in the reorganized binuclear family became more stable.
