P. Vaudon et al., INFLUENCE OF THE GROUND PLANE STRUCTURE ON THE RADIATION-PATTERN OF MICROSTRIP ANTENNAS, Annales des telecommunications, 48(5-6), 1993, pp. 319-329
Most radiation analyses of microstrip antenna are based on the assumpt
ion of an infinite ground plane. Actual environments are different, an
d the ground plane is necessarily limited. In this paper we show the i
nfluence of the dimensions and the shape of the support. Analytical fo
rmulations are explicitly given. Many comparisons between theory and e
xperimentation are presented. Next, we apply the previous results to t
he case of a circularly polarized antenna, in order to optimize the el
lipticity ratio.
