A novel method, by which large amounts of Co88P12. amorphous alloy can
be obtained by electrolysis, is described. The method is based on the
dendritic growth of a sample which allows the sample to be easily sep
arated from the copper substrate at room temperature. A homogeneous de
posit can be obtained when an appropriate current density, J greater t
han or similar to 4 X 10(4) A m-2, is chosen. Calorimetric measurement
s show slight variations in samples with the same composition obtained
with differing current densities. After milling, the material is magn
etically soft, with high saturation magnetization (sigma(s) = 111.3 em
u/g) and a negligible magnetic hysteresis.
