The various sintering mechanisms of a W97NiFeCo alloy are correlated t
o its microstructure and to several mechanical properties. The sinteri
ng mechanisms are determined by isotherm dilatometry in the area of te
mperature preceding the appearance of the liquid phase. The MET observ
ations reveal the presence of a NiFeCoW phase confirmed by the diffrac
tion of X-rays. The mechanical properties are higher for samples sinte
red beyond 1400-degrees-C.
