Abstract
When a steel roller supporting the bells of conveyors stops turning be cause of the degradation of its bearings. it wears rapidly and can lea d to belt breakage. It could be possible to get around this problem by using rollers made of composite materials In order to compare the beh avior of these new materials and of steel, we used a rubber wheel wear test to simulate the prevailing conditions when the roller is blocked and we have modified this test in order to test rotating specimens.
