Dm. Vail, RECENT ADVANCES IN CHEMOTHERAPY FOR LYMPHOMA OF DOGS AND CATS, The Compendium on continuing education for the practicing veterinarian, 15(8), 1993, pp. 1031
Highly successful combination chemotherapeutic protocols have now been
developed for dogs and cats with lymphoma, thereby making attainment
of durable remissions (i.e., those lasting longer than six months) the
norm rather than the exception. Attaining durable second and third re
missions through rescue therapy, however, remains an elusive goal. Thi
s article discusses recent investigations attempting to improve the ef
ficacy and lessen the toxicity of current drugs in use. Recent investi
gations on rescue protocols that strive to achieve durable second remi
ssions are also presented.
