M. Pougnet et al., A CYLINDRICAL MICROWAVE CAVITY FOR LABORATORY APPLICATIONS, The Journal of microwave power and electromagnetic energy, 28(2), 1993, pp. 113-120
The design of a cylindrical cavity applicator is described. The unit i
s evaluated for applications in chemical laboratories. Temperature mon
itoring and control is achieved through the use of a thermocouple and
computer software. The applicator is useful for heating relatively lar
ge laboratory samples of a few hundred milliliters. Other advantages i
nclude the ability to agitate the material and add to and remove liqui
ds from the reactor through access ports without having to open the re
actor.
