High-Order displacement theories for thermoelastic composite plates ar
e developed and compared with some of the published high-order theorie
s. Effects of transverse shear strain and transverse normal strain are
considered. Analytical solutions are developed for specially orthotro
pic plates using the Navier approach. Numerical results illustrate the
importance of including transverse normal strain on the maximum defle
ction response of moderately thick plates subjected to a depth-linear
temperature field.
