Abstract
The quantitative characteristics of stationary electric contacts in el ectrical apparatus have been given by means of some calculations, base d on an artificial model of the current flow lines which highly simpli fies the treatment, We have developed a 3-D finite element method by w hich the static characteristics of the electric contacts having asymme tric shapes can be analyzed, Repulsion forces in the stationary electr ic contacts with rectangular solid contact members as well as ones wit h cylindrical contact members are calculated by our method. The validi ty is confirmed by comparing with the results by the well-known Helm f ormula[1].
