Abstract
By double immunoelectron microscopy, we studied synaptic relations bet ween corticotropin-releasing factor (CRF)-immunoreactive (ir) and thyr otropin-releasing hormone (TRH)-ir neurons in the paraventricular nucl eus (PVN) of the rat hypothalamus. CRF-ir and TRH-ir neurons made reci procal synaptic connections in the medial and periventricular parvocel lular regions. These results may suggest that both the parvocellular n eurons interplay on their hypophysiotropic functions within the PVN.
