Abstract
A SmCo5 permanent magnet periodic structure was developed to generate a sinusoidal space-varying magnetic field, This device was designed to be utilized in the wiggler of a Free-Electron Laser (IR-FEL). To desi gn the finite-element computer codes that calculate magnetic fields in two and three dimensions were utilized. The results obtained from the computer simulations and the mechanical design of the built structure are presented.
