Abstract
The Streptomyces coelicolor glnR gene positively regulates the transcr iption of the glutamine synthetase-encoding glnA gene. The nucleotide sequence of a 1682-bp DNA segment containing glnR was determined. The deduced amino acid sequence of the GlnR protein was found to be simila r to the sequence of several bacterial response regulators that are kn own to function as transcriptional activators. Primer extension analys is of glnR mRNA identified three transcriptional start points (tsp) up stream from the glnR coding sequence.
