A. Psyllos et C. Philippopoulos, PERFORMANCE OF A MONOLITHIC CATALYTIC-CONVERTER USED IN AUTOMOTIVE EMISSION CONTROL - THE EFFECT OF A LONGITUDINAL PARABOLIC ACTIVE METAL DISTRIBUTION, Industrial & engineering chemistry research, 32(8), 1993, pp. 1555-1559
The effect of a longitudinal parabolic active metal distribution on th
e performance of a monolithic converter is reported. On the basis of t
he results of numerical calculations, the improvement in the performan
ce of the catalytic converter with parabolic axial active material dis
tribution compared with the respective uniform distribution is verifie
d. In addition, in cases where operating conditions fail to light-off
(or ignite) the catalytic system with uniform material distribution, h
igh conversions can be achieved by catalysts with parabolic distributi
on of the active material, for the same quantity of precious metal.
