Abstract
The medfly trapping in Southern France during 1991 summer shows that t his pest is present in our country from the first week of July to the second week of November, where it seems to develop 2 generations per y ear. The first generation is found in peach and nectarine orchards in July and August, the second generation in apple orchards in September, October and November. The density of insects and the attacks on fruit s are low during the first generation in peach and nectarine orchards, and high during the second generation in apple orchards. The failure to recognize the pest, the difficulty to detect the attacks on peach, and the cultural habits (damaged fruits often let down in the orchards ) contribute to the high infestation rate obtained on the latest varie ties.
