Abstract
The asymmetric dihydroxylation of alpha,beta-unsaturated ketones has b een investigated and found to give the corresponding alpha,beta-dihydr oxy ketones in good yields and excellent enantiomeric excesses. The pr oblem of epimerization of the alpha-carbon has been eliminated by empl oying a buffered AD-mix containing sodium bicarbonate.
