Abstract
This review deals with the discovery of the organic ether/lewis acid i nitiating system and a glimpse into the organic peroxides/Lewis acid s ystem for the living carbocationic polymerization of olefins (isobutyl ene). The techniques, results, and the mechanism of the cationic livin g polymerization of isobutylene using these initiators are discussed.
