Abstract
Optical feedback from velocity-selective nonlinear Faraday rotation in alkali metal vapors has been shown to be an effective technique for s imultaneously stabilizing the frequency and reducing the linewidth of AlxGa1-xAs/GaAs lasers. The ultimate frequency stability of such a las er is limited by the quality factor Q=nu0/DELTAnu of this frequency re ference. In this letter we report the measurement of Q=6X10(6) for opt ical feedback from velocity-selective nonlinear Faraday rotation in Rb vapor.
