Abstract
The case is made that there must be a feedback mechanism operating dur ing the development of the human eye which means that over a populatio n most people have relatively small refractive errors. The possible fe edback mechanisms are examined and the conclusion is drawn that chroma tic aberration of the human eye may produce visual cues which could be utilized in such a feedback system.
