Abstract
Cross sections of multicapture processes for Xe27+ ions colliding with Xe at an energy of 4 keV/u are reported. Projectiles and recoil ions were detected in coincidence, allowing the determination of recoil ion charge states from time of flight measurements. For processes where t he projectile stabilizes five electrons, we measured that the target e xchanges up to 15 electrons. Cross sections are compared with the theo retical predictions based on the Extended Classical Barrier Model (E.C .B.M.) [10].
