Abstract
Rats were immunized by intraperitoneal injection of ovalbumin emulsifi ed with Freund incomplete adjuvant, and then the effect of an intraven ous challenge with ovalbumin on hepatic drug-metabolizing enzyme activ ities was examined. The cytochrome P-450 content and ethylmorphine N-d emethylase, benzphetamine N-demethylase, arylhydrocarbon hydroxylase a nd 7-ethoxycoumarin O-deethylase activities significantly decreased in rats treated with ovalbumin compared with control groups treated with saline, whereas there was no significant reduction in cytochrome b5. NADPH-cytochrome c reductase and NADH-cytochrome c reductase.
