Abstract
Points where jumps in relative degree occur are represented as singula rities in the vector field of the internal dynamics of systems which a re candidates for input-output linearization via nonlinear feedback. F or a certain class of vector fields, it is shown that the point at whi ch the relative degree is weak can be transformed to a saddle equilibr ium point at the origin.
