Ad. Kerr et Ss. Kwak, THE CLAMPED SEMIINFINITE PLATE ON A WINKLER BASE SUBJECTED TO A VERTICAL FORCE, Quarterly Journal of Mechanics and Applied Mathematics, 46, 1993, pp. 457-470
The analysis of the title problem is based on the linear bending theor
y of thin plates. Two analytical solutions are presented for a concent
rated force. The first is based on the method of potential theory usin
g the Green's function for the infinite plate due to a concentrated fo
rce and its equivalent for a distributed load along the boundary line.
The second solution also utilizes the Green's function for the infini
te plate but in conjunction with the Fourier integral method. The obta
ined solutions are compared and their analytical features are discusse
d. To study the mechanical features of the considered problem, the rea
ction distributions along the boundary, the deflection profiles, and t
he bending-moment distributions were calculated for various positions
of the concentrated force and are presented as graphs.
