Abstract
New extractants arc proposed for the highly effective removal of merca ptans of different molecular weight from hydrocarbon solutions iii the form of solutions of potassium hydroxide in mixtures of dimethylforma mide and dimethylsulphoxide with methanol. The use of these extractant s makes it possible to increase the degree of extraction of mercaptans froin hydrocarbon solutions by a factor of 100-250 by comparison with classic alcohol and water-alcohol extractants. Effective and simple p rocedures have been developed for removing mercaptans from hydrocarbon feedstock.
