E. Espi et al., ON THE APPLICATION OF AN ASSOCIATION MODEL TO BLENDS CONTAINING POLY(HYDROXY ETHER OF BISPHENOL-A), Macromolecules, 26(17), 1993, pp. 4586-4590
The possibilities and shortcomings of the Painter-Coleman association
model (PCAM) to predict some thermodynamic properties of polymer blend
s are explored. More specifically, enthalpies of mixing, excess heat c
apacities, melting point depressions in crystalline/amorphous blends,
and the evolution of the glass transition temperature with blend compo
sition are simulated for blends of phenoxy (a copolymer of Bisphenol A
and epichlorohydrin) (PH) with families of polymers, including poly(a
lkylene oxides), poly(vinyl alkyl ethers), aliphatic polyesters, and p
olymethacrylates. Results are compared with some previously reported e
xperimental data.
