Jr. Cockshutt et Ll. Smithmaxie, DELAYED-ONSET SCIATIC IMPAIRMENT FOLLOWING TRIPLE PELVIC OSTEOTOMY, Progress in veterinary neurology, 4(2), 1993, pp. 60-63
A 3-year-old, male Labrador Retriever developed bilateral sciatic nerv
e dysfunction 18 months following bilateral triple pelvic osteotomy. O
n surgical exploration, bilateral fibrous tissue entrapment of the sci
atic nerves was found. There was significant and sustained improvement
in clinical signs after relief of the entrapment. This case is notabl
e because of the delayed onset of the neurologic deficit and is the fi
rst report of this complication following corrective pelvic osteotomy.
