Electrolytic regeneration of ferricyanide from ferrocyanide containing
ammonia obtained during the production of 3, 4, 5-trimethoxy benzalde
hyde from the hydrazide (using the ferri/ferrocyanide redox couple), w
as carried out on a laboratory scale using stainless steel electrodes
and obtaining a current efficiency of 70-75% with the corresponding en
ergy consumption of 0.3 kWh/kg of potassium ferricyanide. Different di
aphragm materials have also been tested. Based on these results, the s
cale-up of the process to 100 A was carried out.
