Abstract
Scanning electron microscopic studies on discharged iron electrodes of the Ni-Fe cell revealed die formation of ferrous hydroxide and higher valent oxides in presence of silver, copper, mercury, sulphur and lea d. Additions of mercury and sulphur stabilise the formation of Fe(OH)2 as well as increase the porosity.
