The experimental results of measurements of the electron number densit
y in the wake of a body flying in argon at a pressure of p(infinity) =
30-100 torr and velocity of V-infinity = 3.4-4.9 km/s are analyzed an
d processed. A reaction scheme is suggested, which includes the recomb
ination of charged particles, processes of ion conversion, and excited
atomic states. The solution of equations of a nonequilibrium boundary
layer for flow in the wake is used to formulate the inverse problem o
f determination of rate constants of dissociative recombination Ar-2() + e --> Ar + Ar and triple recombination Ar+ + e + Ar --> Ar + Ar.
