The fluorescence line narrowing (FLN) and time resolved fluorescence l
ine narrowing (TRFLN) of Sm3+ ions in ZBLAN fluoride glass have been i
nvestigated. The fluorescence transitions 4G5/2-H-6(5/2) and 4G5/2-H-6
(7/2) were detected as the wavelength of the exciting light was varied
. The homogeneous broadened luminescence of 4G5/2-H-6(5/2) by resonant
excitation has been recorded at temperatures as low as 100 K; a 2.5 c
m-1 linewidth was measured at this temperature, and the delay-time dep
endence and temperature dependence of the spectral width were studied.
