Abstract
Trivalent uranium ions have been observed in ZrF4- or AlF3-based fluor ide glasses, following exposure of U4+-doped bulk or fibre samples to different radiations (Co-60, X photons...). Optical absorption, fluore scence spectroscopy and electron paramagnetic resonance have been used to identify and characterize these ions.
