Rf. Trunin et al., PHASE-TRANSFORMATIONS OF ROCK-SALT IN THE SHOCK-WAVE OF AN UNDERGROUND NUCLEAR-EXPLOSION, High temperature, 34(6), 1996, pp. 864-868
The D(t/r) dependence (where D is the shock wave velocity, t is the ti
me, and r is the distance), obtained during underground nuclear explos
ions, is analyzed to conclude about the presence of phase transformati
ons in rock salt under these conditions. One of them (with the transfo
rmation parameters D similar or equal to 5.9 km/s, P similar or equal
to 24.0 GPa) presumably has the character of restructuring of the init
ial NaCl structure into the lattice of the CsCl type, and the second t
ransformation consists in the change of the aggregate state (transitio
n from the solid to liquid phase).
