Abstract
Equivalent to a supercritical fluid is a description of the- state of the methane molecule in the interior of the host cavity of a cryptopha ne molecule. The CH4-cryptophane complex (shown on the right) is amazi ngly stable even at room temperature (K(a) = 130 M-1), and its half-li fe is 6 mus. The findings of this study shed light on the bonding betw een neutral guest and neutral host molecules.
