Abstract
The simultaneous effects of a boryl substituent and a metallocene unit on a butadiene ligand can lead to C - H activation of this simple org anic compound: Heating the complexes (1) formed from the relevant (but adiene)metallocene and 9-borabicyclo[3.3.1]nonane (9-BBN) affords comp lexes 2 (M = Zr) or, by the elimination of H-2, 3 (M = Zr, Hf).
